Hi, my name is Greg Bogdan. I started my formal earth science education at Penn State University before completing my Bachelor of Science in Geology at the University of Houston.
After spending more than three decades working full-time across the oil, gas, and broader energy sectors, primarily in Houston, Texas, my work today spans blogging, authoring technical articles for industry publications, and directing high-performance B2B digital marketing campaigns.
From the TX Gulf Coast to the Utica in Ohio
I recently relocated from Houston to a property situated near the northern limit of the Northern Tier of the Utica/Point Pleasant Shale in Northeast Ohio. As a geologist and scientist living directly on top of the play, I enjoy digging into data and science and sharing insights.
Why this Blog
The Utica Shale Blog is designed to bridge the gap between technical aspects and more general science and economics. Whether you’re a landowner in the shale play, in the industry and tracking Utica/Point Pleasant Shale activity, or simply curious about the science and economics of modern oil and gas development, I hope you find the content useful.
Data on this site is compiled from public records and other sources believed to be reliable, but may contain errors or omissions. Content is for general information only and is not legal, financial or investment advice. Landowners should consult an attorney before signing any oil and gas lease.
Disclosure: I own land and mineral rights in unleased acreage in southern Ashtabula County. I have no financial relationship with any of the companies named in my posts.
